Ashburton 9th December 2009 at the Victoria Inn

Once again Ernie led this now traditional pre-Christmas walk around the muddy lanes and footpaths surrounding Ashburton.

After an excellent lunch at the Victoria, Ernie recounted some of the amusing incidents of the year (you can read it here.) and presented the annual "Stirring" prize to Val for her Diva performance of the "Hot Plate Shuffle" at the Church House Inn after the Stokeinteignhead walk. (Read the citation here)

Joy paid tribute to Dennis and to all the walks leaders for their help during the year and also to Maureen as Treasurer. In return everyone expressed their appreciation to Joy for her role as walks coordinator.

Heather, Tim, Maureen & Dave gave a rendition of "Bellever Tor" to the tune of British Grenardiers. (What will they dream up for next year?)

After receiving her Stirring Prize award Val recited a charming poem "My Christmas Card List" to show her appreciation of the many new friends she has made since joining our group. Thanks, Val, we all agree with the sentiments expressed in the poem. You can read the poem here.
